I joined the Wave Propagation and Metamaterials Lab in March 2023 after completing my Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at Seoul National University. During my M.S.-Ph.D. combined degree, I worked on the development of an ultrasound nondestructive sensor/actuator for plate structures and opened new techniques on impedance- and phase-matched anti-reflection layer for extraordinary transmission through a barrier for ultrasonic applications. I’m currently focused on passive flow control for instability mitigation using phononic crystals and metamaterials by combining wave engineering with band structure modulation and flow control. Besides the research, I enjoy playing badminton, driving a car, taking a sauna and bath, and traveling.

I joined the Wave propagation and metamaterials lab in September 2023 after completing my PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California San Diego. My thesis research focused on phase transition and domain wall control in multistable metamaterials. In providing several strategies to realize and control the phase distributions within multistable metamaterials, my dissertation promotes their adoption for applications in energy harvesting, mechanical memory devices and deployable structures. As a postdoc in the WPM lab, I will be exploring fluid-metamaterial interaction models where, the devised metamaterial architecture customizes the fluid-structure coupling and enables control of the flow characteristics, i.e., stability. Besides research, I like to play tennis, read books in the history, adventure and fantasy genres, cooking, hiking and Vedic chanting
